As the 2015 PGA Tour season begins its version of the playoffs with the FedEx Cup, it is the perfect time to reflect on how great a year it has been for golf. A changing of the guard is definitely taking place, with Jordan Spieth leading the pack of new guys on the scene. He is followed closely by Jason Day and Rickie Fowler. It was unfortunate that Rory McIlroy was hurt, but obviously he is a fantastic player and ready to challenge Jordan for World #1 honors. Golf as a sport would be hard pressed to ask for a better combination of great players and nicer people. There are others that have proven they have the potential to break through next year. Brooks Koepka, Patrick Rodgers, Justin Thomas and Tony Finau all had great years. I can’t wait for 2016 to start.
But 2015 is still not over. I personally like the golf season being extended by the FedEx. So here is a question; If Jason Day wins the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup that would give him: 4 wins, one Major, one Major one stroke back, and another where his great play was stalled by vertigo. Should he be considered Player of the Year over Jordan. I would say no, but am curious as to what some others might think?
